Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone
Philosopher’s stone is the first part of the Harry Potter series. We see Harry, Ron, and Hermoine as 11-year-old kids entering the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry Potter, the protagonist, lives in the muggle world and is introduced to wizardry as Hagrid announces ‘Yer a wizard, Harry.’ With them, we are also introduced to the Hogwarts world, its rules, bewitching subjects, strict staff, the made-up game quidditch, and most importantly, the iconic villain you-know-who, aka, Voldemort. Students of Hogwarts get sorted into four groups – Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, depending on what they value the most. We see their journey throughout their first year laced with many terrific happenings.
Philosopher’s stone is also called sorcerer’s stone in some places, especially in the west because of cultural differences, as the name philosopher might not appeal to young audiences.
Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets
Chamber of secrets is the second part of Harry Potter, which shows the kids in the second year fighting against the unknown evil and eventually killing it off. Chamber of Secrets unveil the deaths and threats against muggle-borns (those who don’t hail from magic blood origin), as the chamber is opened after years. Harry takes a bold step to save the school and his friends by killing the basilisk along with Tom Riddle’s memories responsible for all the tragedy.
Our favorite character, Dobby, is first introduced in the second part (annoying at first, though).
Rumor has it that the chamber of secrets is the weakest and least-liked books/movies among the entire Harry Potter series, next to the Order of Phoenix.
Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban
Prisoner of Azkaban is the most-liked movie/book of Harry Potter for its fine writing, well-rounded characters, and interesting portrayal. The summary of the prisoner of Azkaban is simple. A wild prisoner is on the loose, who might be a menace to Harry. Who is the prisoner and what’s his motive is what the third part of Harry potter is all about.
Though the prisoners of Azkaban don’t show Harry’s father James Potter’s story and the story behind the marauders map, it’s still captivating enough to watch with umpteen twists unfolding.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire
Goblet of Fire is the fourth part of Harry Potter. 14-year-old Harry is forced to enter a dangerous inter-school magic competition, He is not supposed to be a part of. Around the end of the competition, Harry has a narrow escape, yet uncovers the grand scheme and re-entry of you know who, Voldemort. While we feel delighted seeing them grow, something tugs our heart as an important character dies.
Goblet of fire is where we see Hermoine showing feelings for Ron for the first time during the ball scene.
Harry Potter and the order of Phoenix
Order of the Phoenix is the fifth part of the Harry Potter series. Voldemort is out, but not many of the magic community believes that he is. All hell breaks loose in Hogwarts as the evil Umbridge takes over head of the school role, replacing professor Dumbledore, the head of the school. Harry and his gang are training his fellow students to become excellent in the defense against dark arts and fight, you know who, and gang.
And, then there is the Order of Phoenix, a cult gang comprising top-tier witches and wizards, is back to save the community from evil. The movie gets over with the dueling of Dumbledore and Voldemort and everyone becoming well aware of the truth.
The funniest part about Order of Phoenix is that it’s the longest among the books, yet the movie version is the shortest among all with 2 hours and 18 minutes of running time.
Harry Potter and the half blood prince
Half blood prince is Harry Potter’s sixth movie, which is about revealing the half blood prince in the end. The summary of half blood prince is that Harry finds a potions book that belongs to the half blood prince. On the other hand, professor Dumbledore is trying to find out all 7 horcruxes to destroy them. How did Harry end up finding the Half blood prince, while helping Dumbledore with the mission forms the rest of the story.
Half blood prince is the only Harry Potter series with the most romantic scenes and plots, next to deathly hallows 2. More deaths happen here, yet the love triangle and classic jealousy troupe seems to balance it.
Harry Potter and the deathly hallows 1
Deathly Hallows is the final part of the Harry Potter book series, yet is divided into two parts to compensate for its length. First part of Deathly Hallows shows the initial stages of the war whereas the second part focuses on the conclusion. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all in their final years in the magic school now, and are out looking for the rest of the horcruxes to destroy. Their journey helps them find some truths about Dumbledore’s past friendship and what Deathly Hallows stand for.
The Deathly Hallows set up is mostly gloom, notifying what’s about to befall the entire magical population.
Harry Potter and the deathly hallows 2
Deathly Hallows part 2 is the final conclusion that shows the war between Harry and Voldemort. The entire Hogwarts school is backing up Harry, which leads to a catastrophe and death of many favorite characters like Fred Weasley, Nymphodora Tonks, Remus Lupin, and many students. Voldemort dies at last and we see a grown up Harry, Ron, and Hermione sending off their kids to Hogwarts on the 9 ¾ platform.
The best part about the deathly hallows 1 is Harry knowing everything about his professor Snape’s past and his affection towards Harry’s mother, Lily Potter. It gets more emotional towards the end as Harry names his son Albus Severus Potter, after Snape, the man he hated since the beginning during his stay at Hogwarts.
